Our history

In 1995, Fondation Ste Zithe was founded as a non-profit organization and registered under Luxembourg law with a capital asset of 25.000 Euros.

In 2007, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg issued a statutory change relating to the naming of Fondation Ste Zithe.

Since this change Foundation Ste Zithe has been legally named “umbrella organization” of the Carmelite Sisters’ works. Besides securing the Order and its Sisters another major function of the Foundation is to manage the assets of the Congregation and to contribute to social and charitable causes through its donations.

A lot of projects have been realized in the past years, thanks to many donations that are tax deductable in Luxembourg.

At this point, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our many donors for all their generosity during the past years and for all the supportive actions they may intend in the future.

In 2007, Zikomo - Hilfe für Malawi ("Help for Malawi") was founded by Fondation Ste Zithe in German law, with a registered office in Trier/Germany. Its main focus is to support the Zitha works in Malawi and to allow German donors to apply for tax deductions as well.

In addition to the Fondation Ste Zithe, the Luxembourgish NGO “Eng oppen Hand fir Malawi ("An open hand for Malawi") has been created in order to support development work in Malawi as well. As the organization does not have a capital stock, it can only provide support for short-term individual projects until their finalization. The NGO “Eng oppen hand fir Malawi” is based on volunteer work.

Since 2012 Fondation Ste Zithe is an associated member of Don en Confiance Luxembourg a.s.b.l.
